Special Category Awards

Students who enter the Alaska Science & Engineering Fair have many opportunities to win a wide range of awards. Many of these awards are special category awards, which are given independently by Alaskan, national, or international societies and organizations. These organizations supply their own judges and determine their prizes according to their own criteria.

New Prizes for 2008:

COOL! PRIZES Sponsored by International Polar Year (IPY)

Marine Science Awards Sponsored by the North Pacific Research Board (NPRB)

Botany/Horticulture Awards Sponsored by the Alaska Rock Garden Society

Alaska Mineral and Energy Education Resource Education Fund (AMEREF)

The following special category awards have been given in the past and are expected to be offered this year. Links are provided if more information is available about the particular awards.

Note: Organizations may contact us if they wish to expand the description of their awards. The Alaska Science and Engineering Fair offers "Courtesy Pages" to organizations to describe their prizes and give helpful hints to students.
